Beartooth Wilderness

After our night adjusting to the altitude, we did a hike into the Beartooth Wilderness. The wilderness is almost one million acres. It has literally hundreds of lakes and ponds. Our plan was to do a big loop hike fishing along the way. The wilderness starts in Wyoming, but quickly moves into Montana. It is important to know what state you are fishing in unless you have a license for both states. Being a million acres and us having only a couple days to explore, it is no exaggeration to say we saw less than half of one percent of this beautiful area.

Since licenses for out of staters are pretty expensive, I bought one for Wyoming for a day. I'd say it was a pretty good investment. We caught brookies and cutbows from three different lakes.
We made camp near one of those lakes (see pic below). We were in grizzly country so we stored anything that smelled (food, trash, toothpaste, worms)a hundred yards from camp in a bear canister. I got a migraine so had to take a nap one day, but other than that nap no one sleeps well in grizzly country.

I didn't screw up the horizon in this picture. The trail

Yes, it was pretty incredible
