Long Tailed Duck

I went birding in South County today. Days off from work have become a rarity since it seems like everyone I work with wants a vacation. Oh well, more money for Florida in November I guess. When I get a day off they are more precious. So I was pretty disappointed that the wind was howling near the ocean today. It was so bad, I was home by 1 pm. I got one new bird for the day, a Killdeer. However, the highlight of the day was being close to this female Long Tailed Duck. LTDs aren't rare by any means, but it isn't too often they are right next to you at the edge of the Breachway.
